Buy and give a cosy start to a newborn at Kidz First Hospital

I’m a firm believer in giving back when you can. It’s nothing to do with how it makes me feel, it’s purely the fact that I know I’m doing OK and that this comfortable feeling should be something everybody gets to experience.

I recently learned about the Middlemore Foundation’s Wool Programme where people can donate money, yarn, or knitted items for the premature and newborn babies leaving Kidz First Hospital. It’s been around since 2000 so I have no idea what rock I’ve been living under to have never heard of it before!

Parents and babies in need who are leaving the hospital get a gorgeous wool pack filled with six hats, six pairs of booties, three rugs, two cotton singlets/one knitted singlet, six vests, one bigger jumper, three fish'n'chip tops, two pairs of PJs, and two gorgeous knitted toys like teddy bears.

What’s Hatchling’s plan?

What I’m introducing to Hatchling is the concept of a buy and give situation. For every order through Hatchling, I will knit something to contribute to the foundation’s wool packs. You don’t need to do a thing! Just place your order and rest assured that we’ll be knitting up a storm in the background to make a knitted donation on your behalf.

We’ll also be donating a knitted item for every person we get signed up to our newsletter. So if you’re not already on that, now’s the PERFECT time. Sign up using the form below now!

What do you think? Start shopping to get my wool pack knitting list rolling!
